Aurora Aksnes' earliest musical memories involve finding a piano hidden in her attic, and being captivated by its sounds. Her parents May-Britt as well as Jan Oystein Aksnes encouraged her to study music, not for an occupation or pastime but to grow. They encouraged her to compose. She cites renowned songwriters Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan in her influences, along with an affinity for Bjork's style. To counter her mother's suggestions that she should not be aiming to become famous with the songs she writes, but rather recognize the significance of their lives as well as their contribution to society. When she was six she started playing the piano, and when she was nine began writing her own songs. The family members didn't know about her musical journey until she was fourteen. Aurora wasn't a dream. She claims that she enjoys composing music. She believes that music is the most effective method to experience anything.
